Wendell Corey (Actor) .. Woods
Born: March 20, 1914
Died: November 09, 1968
Trivia: The son of Congregationalist minister, Wendell Corey was pursuing a brief career as a washing machine salesman when he showed up at the rehearsals for a community play to pick up a friend. Invited by the director to read for a part, Corey found he liked performing, and eventually turned pro in summer stock. After a string of Broadway flops, Corey finally scored a success in the original 1945 production of Elmer Rice's Dream Girl. Entering films with a Paramount contract in 1946, the incisive, sharp-eyed Corey spent the next fifteen years alternating between leads (File on Thelma Jordon), "best friend" supporting characters (Rear Window), and, most effectively, villains (The Big Knife). On TV Corey starred in the weekly series Harbor Command (1957) and The Eleventh Hour (1961-63). Intensely interested in politics, Corey was once the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the director of the Screen Actors, and served on the Santa Monica City Council; he ran for but did not win California's Republican congressional seat.
James Donald (Actor) .. Harry Pope
Born: May 18, 1917
Died: August 03, 1993
Trivia: Scots actor James Donald made his first professional stage appearance sometime between 1935 and 1938, but would not achieve theatrical stardom until 1943's Present Laughter. Donald began making films in 1941, hitting his stride with his portrayal of Theo Van Gogh in Lust for Life (1956). He is most fondly remembered for his incisive performances in a trio of POW dramas: Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), The Great Escape (1963), and King Rat (1965). He also made a handful of memorable TV appearances, the last of which was the role of Murdstone in the 1970 all-star adaptation of David Copperfield. After a long period of inactivity, James Donald died of stomach cancer at the age of 75.
Arnold Moss (Actor) .. Doctor
Born: January 28, 1910
Died: December 15, 1989
Trivia: Upon receiving a master's degree in teaching at New York University, American actor Arnold Moss decided that the life of a teacher wasn't for him and set to find theatre work. Moss was engaged by the LeGallienne Civic Repertory Theatre, where he played his first villainous role in Peter Pan. Radio provided a great deal of work for Moss, whose deep, mellifluous voice was perfect for narration and commercial assignments; additionally, he produced and wrote for various radio series. The actor's first film was Temptation; with his Satanic eyebrows and raven-like features Moss was generally cast as high-born villains or sinister foreigners. Moss made two memorable appearances in Bob Hope films, first as Hope's Casablanca contact in the espionage spoof My Favorite Spy and then as a conniving Venetian doge in Casanova's Big Night. Arnold Moss was also shown to good advantage as the usurping Antonio in the 1960 Hallmark Hall of Fame production of Shakespeare's The Tempest, which starred Maurice Evans and Richard Burton.
Weaver Levy (Actor) .. Houseboy
